Book Description:
MEET SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD CANDYCANE CLAUS. She's the most
popular girl at North Pole High. Her father is world-famous. And
every day is Christmas. What more could any girl want?
BOYS! And the new boy, Rudy Tutti, is hot chocolate. But he hates anything to do with Christmas!
When Candy and Rudy are forced to work together on a school Christmas-tree project, her world is turned upside down: Her grades start to suffer, she loses her taste for ice cream, and now the two North-Star-cross'd teens must contend with her overprotective father — Santa Claus — before Christmas is ruined for EVERYONE!
**My thoughts**
I felt like I needed to brush my teeth when I first started this book! All of the puns on names and slang have a sweet twist to them, to better fit in with the idea of the story taking place up at the North Pole. After a few chapters, that calmed down a bit more and I could focus on the story of teen angst with boyfriends and overprotective fathers. Even Santa Claus worries about his own daughter and can't see clearly when it comes to her!
I snickered out loud here and there at some of the shenanigans of the various characters. I appreciate the imagination it takes to show how the real world clashes with that fantasy world (which to them is the real world). It's a cute story.
