Please give a warm welcome to author DC Hall as he lets us into his own life, as well as his new series, starting with Cuspian.
What
was the inspiration behind 'Cuspian'?
The idea for this book was written in the stars. Don’t look at me like that…I’m serious. My book revolves around twins who are gifted with supernatural abilities due to them being born on the cusp – the precise moment where one astrological sign transitions into another – of Scorpio and Libra. I’m a Cuspian as well, so after researching the topic so much the idea sprouted so I decided I should write it down.
Which
character spoke to you the most?
CUSPIAN is written from dual points of view of the fraternal boy and girl twins, Kendal and Kennedi Myles. Both of them were really chatty during the writing process but Kennedi was the bossiest of the pair. I connected most with Kendal though. We both are ‘kind-sorta-not-really-okay-just-a-little-bit’ emo.
Which
scene is your favorite?
There is a party scene from chapter 7 that I loved writing. It is a scene where Kendal lets down his guarded, ‘way-too-mature-to-be-a-teenager’ attitude and partied…hard. There were dire consequences to his party rocking [cue menacing music.]
What
is the significance of your main characters being twins? How would it
change the storyline if they were not twins?
It was important for the pair to be twins to show the closeness of the two. There are also some significant reasons involving their abilities and twin-dom but I’ll keep those under lock and key for the time being. I doubt the storyline would have worked if they were not twins since so much of the story involves their crazy twin connection.
Will
we see these characters again in future books?
Yes! I am in the process of writing the second book in the series. You will see the same characters that you loved and hated AND you’ll meet plenty of new characters as well.
On
what other projects are you currently working?
I have two other projects in the works. One is a young adult dystopia and the other is a new adult urban fantasy.
You
are obsessed with argyle socks. Why? Does argyle figure into any
other part of your wardrobe or decorating style?
When I’m not being an awesome author (why, thank you for the compliment) I work in a conservative profession, so argyle or crazy strange socks is my way to rebel against society. (I’m wearing dinosaur socks as I type.) Viva la revolucion! *Throws a tomato and runs.*
You
love to read. What are some of your favorite books and authors?
There are tooooooo many to name but I’ll try:
J.R. Ward, Karen Marie Moning, Kim Harrison, G.R. R. Martin and Stephen King. I’m obsessed with THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER and I read sections of it off and on throughout the year.
What
are you reading right now? What is on your TBR pile?
I’m rereading THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER (I told you I was obsessed!) And I am beta reading this great novel by Lola James (y’all are in for another good one.) My TBR list is crazy random but I’ll mention a few books on my list.

Tell
us more about your dog Brooklyn.
Brooklyn is a lazy, snob! All he does all day is lounge around the house and eat. AND he cast judging looks my way whenever I drink from the orange juice container. *Grumbles under my breath.* He needs to get a job.
What
is something readers may be surprised to learn about you?
I used to hate reading because I had a reading disorder when I was younger. But my parents worked with me every night and eventually I started to love it.
Is
there anything else you would like to add?
I would like to urge everyone to discover and peruse your passion in some way. I’m not saying quit your job and run off to Paris (wait maybe I am saying that) but do something even if it’s during your leisure time that you are passionate about. I am fortunate enough to discover my passion of writing and I wish that joy for everyone.
Thank
you so much for your time!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR DC Hall is obsessed with argyle socks, the smell of books and believes he is the smartest person in the room. Granted he’s usually alone when he thinks this but it still feels good. When his nose isn’t stuck in a book, DC is usually writing or trying to teach his dog, Brooklyn, how to wash dishes (success remains elusive.) DC is from the south where the teas are sweet, distance is measured in minutes—not miles, and the skies are always Carolina blue.
