**My thoughts**
This young adult novel is one that I would have loved even back in the middle grades. I love mysteries that kids take on for themselves and use amateur sleuthing means to solve them. Sure, Kyle is gay, which may make this a bit more mature a novel, but it isn't a significant enough part of the plot to warrant a ton of extra discussion. It is simply a part of who he is. So is his strange, new ability to have psychic visions, that shed some light on the mystery. His final vision of the book allows for a cliffhanger that makes you desperately want to read the second book in the series.
You think you know who the mysterious thief is, as you follow the clues uncovered by the group of friends. You may figure it out a step or two ahead of them, but really you may be surprised.
It's a fun and quick read that shows a lot of promise as this series develops. I look forward to the next installment!
